This is most likely going to be confusing if interested at all. Last Year Around Super Bowl. I was excited! Interested - it was going to be the Eagles or the Steelers either way, was Glad our Tampa Bay was Host City, and pumped to see friends and family from PA. So here come the Steeler fans! haa! ... That meant lots going on, parties, media madness, I was in my element! It all changed when, I went to wake my daughter Angelina. What I remember most of what happened or was happening was trading places with the husband back and fourth from sitting, pacing, and taking turns going outside to make calls to family on Angelina and her eyes??? Here I was sitting with my almost 3 yr old at UCH. Trying to be calm around her and a basket case on the inside. Angelina had lost muscle control in her right eye. I couldn't see here eye ... We freaked out. After MRI and every test you can imagine, It was not a tumor!
An eye condition that made her eye wander...?? That's pretty much all the amazing Doctors at UCH could tell us. No tumor and that was most important thing to rule out and a relief to us. When I say amazing I mean AMAZING! The pediatric unit is extraordinary! Much thanks to the whole staff! And the Glazer family vision foundation! Next was calling in the troops, finding THE BEST pediatric Ophthalmologist. Dr. Ronni Chen was highly recommended and I knew her practice, and the amazing Dr. Henderson. From the Salon also the office manager and some of his staff. Lovely ladies I enjoyed seeing when I was still at the shop. Most of them came in for hair and nails. If anyone I trusted it was The Whole clinic and knew I could pull strings to get Angelina in. We saw Dr. Chen the next day! Another Super Bowl over, A year later we saw Dr. Chen again yesterday. Pretty much every four months to try and get my girl to be able to see. I really wanna get into more detail with this later, but I have to say the feeling of 'Bad Mom' doesn't explain how horrible I felt. How did I go almost 3 yrs not knowing my child had bad vision?? Hell she could barely see... Well I got over it I had to and much assurance from friends and especially Dr. Ronni Chen! Class act, really couldn't dream of my child having a better Doctor. Lucky us! Angelina is over the moon for Dr. Chen! Adores her... and so do I! Yesterday we were told she's almost at 20/20 with her glasses on and now has some depth perception. When 4 months ago she had none. Not only did Angelina have no depth perception her eyes in Oct. 09, Her eyes were worse than six months prior. Dr. Chen evaluated her and said change of script was needed, not good, but whatever for your kids right! I sometimes wish I could trade eyes with her! The new script is working and Surgery is off the table till June!
Angelina's eyes, brain and muscles are all working together! Eye muscles are getting stronger. Last visit it was dramatically worse. So yesterday was to determine if her new script was working or Surgery. Lots of improvement. I am so relieved. Breathe... Breathe till June!
There's a lot more about this subject I will talk about - So much to say and If I can inform one Mom or Dad or someone about early detection... it's so important!
Ciao- Make it a GREAT day!
Angelina Rae in her T2 tiny's - Best glasses for little ones, she adjusted very well. Light weight and my monkey girl was able to design them. Was kinda like very expensive build a bear - only glasses!
